B. P. KOIRALA MEMORIAL

Also Late B. P. Koirala Memorial is to be included with an objective to be all inclusive. Talks are being held with Bharatpur, Birgunj and Biratnagar municipalities.

CHILDREN'S PARK

Children and their needs will be a part of this program, as its development committee plans to build a suitable park for children's amusement.

SWIMMING POOL

A swimming pool with appropriate facilities is also included in the future expansion plan.

PRESENT SITUATION

You all know that in Nepal hardly anything worth its money is developed outside Kathmandu valley. However, the local people, corporations, industries and the Hetauda Municipality all have worked together for the first time in this inspiring project. They have already invested something around Rs 120,000 to Rs 150,000 to this date.

Despite the obvious lack of adequate infrastructures such as picnic shades, paved trails, drinking water facilities, the daily visitors count ranges from 100 to 200. On weekends and other off-days, the number is anything between 1,500 to 2,000. This has been an encouraging aspect of this park--a good omen for its potentials. Further development would attract internal as well as external tourists. This would be a great way to honor and show gratitude to our martyrs. So hopes the people who initiated this effort.

WHAT CAN WE DO??

So what can we do? Those of us who are thousounds of miles across the seas. We definitely owe some gratitude to the martyrs, needless to say. When I read about this, I was truely moved. First thing I decided was to make a page and put it on the World Wide Web and inform all the Nepalese who still take interest in the development of the land we grew up in, or feel affiliation with, no matter what.

The other step I would like to take is see if we can raise some fund from Nepalese abroad to contribute to this project. No matter how small our contribution, remember it is going to be many folds more because of the exchange rate and all. I would just like to have a feed back on this effort from those who visit this site, and are interested to do something about it. If the reaction is positive, we'll go ahead and add another page to acknowledge the donors and the amount each has contribited generously to this worthy cause. I will try to contact the peple who are working on this project and let them know about this attempt to be part of their nobel effort. When I hear from them, I will update this site.

I am not its spokesperson, nor do I have any self-interest in this. When I got the brochure about this effort, I wanted to contribite in some way and I am trying to find if there are some other people who feel the same way.

Thank you all for visiting!
